Welcome to Warton fellwanderer's site

Ian on middle gulley Bow Fell

Hello! and welcome to my website, if you are a keen Fellwalker like myself I think you may find this site interesting; worth a quick browse anyway.  The site is really about my favourite walks in the area's I most like to walk, and will include some of these as well as Photo's and links to other walking sites.
As you will become aware when browsing this site, my first love is walking the fells and mountains (after my wife Carole of course!), and am a great admirer of the late Alfred Wainwright.  I have many of his books including all his pictorial guides to the Lake District, hence you will find a tribute to A.W. included.
I have many photo's, taken when out on my walks, so a photo albumn is included featuring one of my walks, these will be changed periodically to more recent walks.  Remember though that these can take longer to download, but if you like pics then that's the place to go.
The walking pages are split into different areas of the British Isles, i.e., Lakes, Wales, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, my own area of Lancashire, and the West Pennines.  I have included walk descriptions and guide maps that give you the general route, not incuded are accurate route directions or scaled maps for the walks, but I have listed guides and maps that are available for each of the walks that will hopefully ensure you find your way round them without too much difficulty.
Within the site I've included a page with a form for anyone who wishes to join the walking club I belong to, the club is called 'Walking Companions' and has been going for over twelve years now and is always ready to welcome Ian on the Cheese press stone Kingsdale new members.  If you are interested, all we really need is a contact number or an e-mail address and someone will be in touch to give you any information you require.
On the same page you will find a link to a sample program for part of this year, just to give you an idea of the type of walking we do.

The walks and photo's will be changed from time to time as and when I get time to update the site, so if you find that anything is missing that you particularly wanted please contact me and I will try my best to include it in any update.  If there are any additions you think might be helpful or interesting if added to this site then please let me know, I am always willing to listen to advice or constructive criticism and where possible when time allows make any changes that I think will improve the site as a whole.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my site, I've tried to show you some great places to walk (Well I like them anyway).    Have a nice day!
